Up, Up and Away (to Oscar glory)!

This week I won an Oscar (with my team mates), thanks to some crafting! This is the nearest I'll ever get to co- winning one, so I thought I'd better put it down in writing. Here's the story in full...

So it's Christmas office party time - and Comic Relief's theme was the MOVIES! I was very keen for our team to go as characters Pixar - my suggestion got through the vigrous voting in a team meeting (phew!). The next step was to choose our characters.

My idea was to go as the house from UP (one of my favoruite films of all time).
I had to get myself looking like this:

From this:

And here is the result:

And here is my lovely team in all our Pixar glory (with Father Christmas):

...And we won an Oscar for best costume! Hurrah!

What wonderful teashops and crafty shops they have here in Cornwall - I'm getting lots of inspiration (and cake) on our jaunt to the fair land!

Here is what I've learnt so far:

* Teashop Essentials *

Scrumptious cakes

Pretty tea things
Loose leaf teas
Frame teacups you don't want smashed

A full menu
A duck friend by your door

Bright colours and old squashy furniture

*An important message about the Arts!*

Thought this was a great (and fun) animation by artist David Shrigley about saving the arts from government cuts:

If you want to save the Arts, check out the blogspot and sign the petition.

Hurrah for the Arts!

Three Pretty Things

Here are three things that I think are pretty:

Peonies in my teapot

Bird fabric in an embroidery hoop on my wall (the hoop was from Charlotte - thank you!)

...and my new MacBook Pro!

So pretty...

Summer Garden Goodness

I just want to celebrate a dreamy summer's day:

A happy, chilled cat...
Cherry picking in our neighbour's garden...

Watching the busy bees on the lavender - I want to make lavender cupcakes soon...

Picking salad for a summer lunch...

Home-made flan, with salad and herbs from the garden and home-made plum chutney from friends at Christmas...yummm...

A BBQ with beautiful friends, jumping like mad on a giant trampoline and seeing the moon glimmer in the summer dusky sky...
A great end to a great day!
