* Little Red Update *

So I'm progressing with my illustrations of 'Little Red' the Fox - Jon had the marvellous idea that I should make shapes and photograph them, so there is a 3D effect. Here's the start of the new illustration ideas...

And here are my other Little Red's waiting for their scenes to be made:

* Meet Little Red *

Apologies for being a bit quiet recently - after my bout of making hair corsages I have been dreaming of finishing some little books I have been working on - Beatrice the Dancing Bee being one of them! In the meantime, I have been doodling some new characters. Here is Little Red, having been inspired by the changing of the seasons and my love for foxes - they get too much bad press in my opinion!

It might be a small book for small ones - not many words, just pictures of Little Red's adventures in the forest and beyond!

How do you keep a Sausage Dog warm?

Is a question that has been been on my mind ever since our autumnal cold snap (it's still not winter yet, technically). And now that it's snowing - well, I had to think of something.

So here it is, some new ideas that I've
created collage style:

...and drawn (for the extra long sausage dog):
Hopefully they'll be feeling a bit warmer now! I hope you're keeping nice and warm in this shivery, but beautiful snowy weather!

* Friday Treat Time! *

As the beautiful season of autumn is nearly over I thought I would cheer us up with some fun autumn-y activity sheets, featuring squirrels, Hobbes the Cat and Bert & Berta!

This is a fun project I started a while back - and its definitely a work in progress, learning lots along the way! The activities are from a black and white 'seasonal' magazine aimed at 2-5 year olds, including photo stories, making a coat for a sausage dog, autumn recipes and more! I guess I need to start a winter one now!

Just click on one of the images below to download the three activities.

Happy Friday!

* Illustrations in Cornwall *

Here are some illustrations I have been working on during my time in Cornwall - all of them inspired by what I have seen and felt here. Some may become stories, others may be pictures for a little fun booklet I'm working on and others are just for fun!

Bert-ie in the Sky with Diamonds

Just catching you up on one of my characters many adventures - today, as it was sunny, breezy, but not too hot, they decided to go on a flying carpet ride!

Buttercup Bunny was the bravest - she flies on carpets all the time.
Pussy Cat Bleu found Bert's ears handy to hold on to when they had to swerve around pigeons who flew at them (not out of malice, but doziness).

Bert and Berta enjoyed seeing the different clouds that drifted past them - they saw turtle shapes, elephant shapes - and even one that looked like a giant standing in a cloudy meadow...

More adventures to come!

Beatrice the Dancing Bee

My latest book I'm working on is about a little bee called Beatrice, who loves dancing with the flowers - but the other bees don't approve. Poor Beatrice Bee! She goes on a journey to find where she can dance and be herself...

Here are some sneak previews - illustrations and pages!

Happy dancing times!

'Alien Gardeners' Illustrations

Here are some of my 'Alien Gardeners' (working title!) illustrations for a children's story I'm working on. I have made all the skins out of various materials, including my own piece of felt (my first lesson in felting with friend Helen!), needle punching and even home grown vegetables!

Wanda the Alien started life as my first piece of felt!

Tina the Alien was created by ironing some special fabric (I have forgotten what it's called!):

'Swifts' (a small kind of alien in my story), 'Thump' and 'Fuzz' were made by taking a photo of my needle punching (also a new thing I learnt from friend Helen!)

Beep the Alien was made by a home grown courgette!

...And Bernard was made by green painted bubble wrap!
