Friday Treat Time!

Ros is away in Uganda and invited me to be a guest on her blog so we didn't miss that good ol' Friday Special. So here it is! There's so many inspiring music videos I love, this just happened to be the most recent I saw that left an impression, and kind of fits in as I had the honour of seeing a similar Icelandic artist, Johann Johannsson perform last night. Like Johann, Ólafur Arnalds, mixes chamber strings and piano with electronics. Go check out his music... http://www.myspace.com/olafurarnalds

Looking forward to having Ros back soon!

Enjoy!

Owly Door Stop

I made an Owly door stop last weekend and have only just found time to post up some snaps of her!

Even though she is a door stop, we're great friends!

Owly was tired after a nights hooting with her friends...

This is where she lives and one day, coming home from work I found her speaking!*
*I think husband Jon helped Owly out here.

I'm off to Uganda for a week with work, but Jon has been invited to do a special guest Friday Treat Time post while I'm away!

See you soon!

Another great film!

I had to share this film with you - I think it's brilliant! I'm in film and animation mode at the moment - looking for films with animations that 12-16's would like! Hoping I'm on the right track...

Sunday Treat Time

Ah hah! Some of you may have noticed that I didn't post up a Friday Treat Time this week - a little check to see if any peeps actually looked on a Friday for their treat - and I'm delighted to find that at least TWO people were disappointed the Friday Treat didn't appear this week! Woop!

So, now I know that at least two people like the Friday Treat Time, I'll keep going with it (plus I like doing it too!)

Here's a song from Jonsi's 'Go' album - can't wait to see him live - beautiful art and life affirming songs!

Friday Treat Time!

It's that time again! This week I have some thought provoking film clips for you - it's good to do a bit of thinking and reflecting on a Friday sometimes...

I came across this on the Made in Me blog (they make interactive materials and stories for very young children). It's a wonderful 4-minute animated short where a 12-year-old with Asperger’s interviews his Mum.

The animation was created by The Rauch Brothers for StoryCorps, a US charity dedicated to providing everyone with the opportunity to create and share the stories of their lives.

...and I was brought to the attention of this film by husband Jon when researching for my job at Comic Relief - a great film to make you think and ACT!

Weekend Fun in E2 (Columbia Road)

A little group of us took a trip to see the wonders of Columbia Road in East London - lead by our intrepid expert on such matters, Charlotte:

It was raining lots, so we had to bring our enormous umbrellas (there was some umbrella clashing going on in the flower market - a few eyes were poked - it wasn't pretty!):

This shop was very special (as demonstrated by Charlotte, with a confused look from Sister Sue):
Don't worry - I DID give them some money before I took the photo - these guys were ace!

Another wonderous shop!

The beginnings of the Flower Market and Sue's matching umbrella!

A sad photo in the midst of all these cheery flowers - Anna insisted I took this one, so here it is. I have entitled it: Poor Bear

Yummy mini cupcakes!

More sweet treats - the magnificent macaroons!

I also wanted to share this as I'm very excited about it - I planted lots of veggies and more strawberries on Bank Holiday Monday (dodging the showers)! Here we have carrots, onions, rocket, chives, thyme and mint...

And our new patch, where courgettes, sugar snap peas and spring onions are merrily growing (and my shadow)!

Oh, and our lilac tree is blossoming - beautiful!

Fun and Patchwork at the V&A

We had a jolly time at the 'Stitched Up' Friday Late event at the V&A this Friday! We all learnt how to make little patchwork hexagons, and the lovely ladies were giving away beautiful fabrics for us to use! Here is my first ever patch work flower:

Which is now on a little cushion:

And here is my favourite piece of fabric I got from the V&A - I'm planning to put this in an embroidery hoop frame:

And here is a record of us at the V&A making stuff (and laughing lots):
