More Bert Bear Adventures...

Not that I'm obsessed or anything...

Bert Bear Adventures continued...

Here's more of Bert Bear...

Bert Bear Adventures

Whilst I was on holiday in Wales, Bert Bear decided to have a holiday too! Here are some of his adventures...

My favourite childhood possesions No. 4

My Little Pony's were my 'bestest' toys (after Care Bears!) I think my sister and I had about 100 between us!

Cute Stuff

I found a new shop at the Spring Country Living Fair, Petra Boase - its full of cute stuff and illustrations - check out the Japanese balloons and knitted toys here!

Friday Treat Time!

Today's Friday treat is a song sung by Eddie Reader called 'Wild Mountainside' - a song I walked down the aisle to on my wedding day. This is to celebrate our four year anniversary! Yippee!

You can get this beautiful song on Eddie Reader's album, 'Eddie Reader sings the Songs of Robert Burns'.

Bert Bear!

Meet my latest creation, Bert Bear!

Here is how he was made:

He likes thinking in trees and singing:

He also loves reading high brow books, including 'A Suitable Boy' by Vikram Seth, 'War and Peace' by Tolstoy and is now embarking on Keat's...

He spends a lot of the day chilling out with the cushions waiting for me to come home...

And for all his high brow literary boastings, I caught him sneakily reading Paddington, stories of a fellow bear!

I'm working on some exciting stories and illustrations around Bert, so watch this space!

Charity Shop Find of the Week!

Another BEAUTIFUL find in a local charity shop (St Francis Hospice), this lampstand has fitted in perfectly in our home. It has a lovely light green marble effect with gold trim- it makes me think of 1920's-30's style! But I'm not an lampstand expert - I just love it!

My favourite childhood possesions No. 3

I have finally found this beauty - my Strawberry Shortcake Case that I absolutely adored when I was little! It was my first school bag. I was a tiny, scared 5 year old going to school for the first time, but carrying this case made me feel much braver - it got me through some scary school times!

Anorak - the best children's mag around?

Check out this funky and fab mag for kids, 'Anorak' - its always full of great 'make' ideas, stories and illustrations! You can get it in Tate Galleries - also have a sneak peak here!

My new character, Bert Bear loves reading it - especially this story about a dog called Buster the Brave created by Jon's uni friends - check out more cute handmade characters at Bobby Dazzler!

Birthday Crafty Gifts

I wanted to share some of the wonderous crafty type gifts friends gave me for my birthday - this cute this mushroom pin cushion was made by Charlotte!

Anna made this beautiful 'ferret' card - I have a dream to own a pair of ferrets one day (yes, I realise this isn't everyone's 'dream'!). I think they'd make amazing pets and could write lots of stories about their adventures - I'm sure they'd get up to all kinds of mischief!

Sister Sue created this lovely basket of goodies, including a Lyle's Golden Syrup tin for my crockery - BRILLIANT!

...And this dinky little bird house was also from Anna - its now in our Willow Tree in the dining room, waiting for some fabric birds to roost there...

Birthday Memories

I know it was last week but here are some happy birthday memories - this was what I saw first thing in the morning - my wonderful husband had made a lovely breakfast, with all my gifts from family and friends laid out!

Then a trip to some dainty cafe's and teashops in Greenwich...

I also got to see Charlie and Lola at the Polka Theatre - it was absolutely, definitely GREAT!

...And a nice cosy afternoon by the fire, booking our anniversary holiday to West Wales!
